Networking
Networking is a time consuming activity especially if you don't monitor the return on investment (ROI) you get from attending each meeting. Fortunately at times you meet people like Ian Lawrence of Lawrence Rose Chartered Accountants in Swindon, that introduce you to new networks and that are able to quantify the ROI. In this case Ian introduced me to BRE and I've now joined the new Bath group.

The UK C++ Panel is hard at work.
Occasionally I'm asked about the UK C++ standards panel, what's involved, and what sort of people attend. I think this snippet from the mailing list sums it all up, who says standards have to be boring:
